If you have been following my blog since I first started it, you must be knowing that I lost almost ten posts when my website crashed and this being one of them. Sadly I did not take back up as I was new in the blogging world and had no idea about things like this. It has taught me a lesson and you must also take note, always take a back up. I repeat, ALWAYS. Since I loved my stay at the JW Marriott Walnut Grove Resort & Spa I decided to do a pictorial post of my visit to the luxurious hotel for my readers again.
With lush green hills and the Doon valley, Mussoorie is one of the most frequently visited hill station of Uttarakhand. The history of Mussoorie dates back to 1825, like most hill stations in India even Mussoorie was founded by the British. Mussoorie derives its name from a shrub “Mansoor” which is available in large quantities in this region.
Located at a distance of 63 km from the Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun, its a beautiful drive to the property. The hotel has 115 deluxe hotel rooms and suites. Almost every part of the hotel offers a spectacular view of the Garhwal range.

The hotel has six restaurants in total. We tried almost all, its difficult to say which is my favourite because the quality of food was excellent in all. We lunched at “Wisteria Deck”, their Italian trattoria. I highly recommend the Shepherds pie, Tiramisu and the wood fired pizzas in Wisteria Deck. For dinner we chose to dine at “Teppan” (Asian cuisine). We savoured everything the chef made us try, so trust the chef and I’m sure you will love what you are served. Do not forget to enjoy a cup of tea, coffee or a hot chocolate with marsh mellows at Perch, which also offers a picturesque view of the Garhwal range.

Breakfast is served in the JW Cafe which is also an all day dining restaurant. The buffet selection includes croissants and other pastries, hot beverages, fresh juices, fresh fruits, cereals, yoghurts, local delicacies, and south Indian food to name a few. The chef was extremely friendly, and he made me try “Papa Roti” which was extremely soft and delicious. To be honest it was the first time I heard of it, you must ask for it when you are there.

They also have an entertainment centre where they offer facilities like bowling, video gaming and rides for children. I fell in love with the indoor pool which also has an amazing view of the Himalayas. The Cedar Spa by L’Occitane is something you should definitely indulge in, it will surely help you in relaxing.

A day or two is not enough to explore the entire property. They also organise guided tours through the Himalayas as well as customised hikes in the mountains. The Greenhouse in JW Marriott Mussoorie is very well maintained and it feels like a paradise with so many different variety of flowers.

HOW TO REACH THERE : We flew down to Dehradun from Delhi. If you are flying it will hardly take 45 minutes or lesser to reach. If you are travelling from Delhi, there are other alternatives like going by Volvo bus which you can book from Makemytrip. Another option is to take a train to Rishikesh or Dehradun railway station.
The hotel offers a wide range of amenities and perks to ensure you have a great time. It is impressive how friendly and hospitable the staff in the hotel were. I would definitely go back to JW Marriott whenever I go to Mussoorie.
