Siliserh lake is 13 kilometres from Alwar city, approximately 26 kilometres from Hill Fort Kesroli and 165 kilometres from Delhi. After we checked out from Hill Fort Kesroli, we left for Siliserh Lake. The drive to Siliserh lake is very scenic with occasional views of the Aravalli hills. As you reach towards Siliserh Lake, you feel closer to the wildlife, we encountered many Monkeys on our way. When we reached there we got to know that the palace near the lake has been taken over by the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation and converted into Lake Palace Hotel. Siliserh Lake Palace was built by Maharaja Vinay Singh of Alwar in 1848 which was used as a hunting lodge in those days. The lake and reservoir was created by the Maharaja, was the main source of water for the city of Alwar.
The view of the lake from the hotel is breathtaking. I had no idea about the vastness of the lake, it is spread over a large area. The lake is surrounded by the Aravalli hills which makes the view all the more grand. This lake offers activities like boating, scuba diving, motor boating and jet skiing. Yes, you read it right, jet skiing, even I was surprised when I saw it. So, you can imagine the vastness of the lake.What surprises me even more is that there will soon be the availability of Pontoon services in Siliserh. However, I had heard about the presence of crocodiles in the lake so we refrained from such activities. It took us only 15 minutes to explore the place, there is nothing to do if you do not indulge in the water sports.

I was already very hungry by the time we reached the lake and the terrible thing was that there was no restaurant. The only thing that was available were some Paneer and vegetable pakoras and soft drinks. We got ourselves some pakoras and enjoyed the fantastic view while gulping them down. The pakoras tasted yummy just because I was super hungry, or else I wouldn’t have eaten it. So be prepared, pack some food or eat before you visit this place.
After Siliserh lake we left for Delhi via Alwar city. We were already short on time so we couldn’t see much in Alwar. So we just decided to drive around the city and see a few places but we got stuck in a massive traffic jam. By the time we got off the traffic it was already evening and time for us to head towards Delhi.
How to reach Siliserh Lake.
Reaching Siliserh lake from Kesroli will take you back to Alwar bypass towards NH 248A which goes to Sariska National Park also known as the Alwar Jaipur road. As soon as the bypass ends, the road takes a sharp left turn towards Sariska and the NH starts. Take the sharp right towards Siliserh Lake after around 10 odd kilometres on this road. The road markings are not that clear so one has to be a little attentive. The road to the lake then becomes a single road with too many potholes and filled with monkeys. 3 kilometres on this road and you will reach the gate of the Siliserh Lake Palace.
